Jupiter Theatre Guild

Ah, those wonderful days of yesteryear!! We all remember those glory days of our youth when we aspired to being actors, singers, or dancers on stage in front of live audiences. We would hear the thunderous applause from the audience as we took our bows after the final act. Even if those memories existed only in our minds, those thoughts helped us grow in a true appreciation for the arts as we matured into adults. And now we have this wondrous showcase called The Maltz Jupiter Theatre right here in northern Palm Beach County; a premier regional playhouse that is entering its sixth year of existence as one of the most talked about successful theatrical palaces in all of South Florida.

guild1webFrom day one, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Guild has been a vital part of the theatre and continues to be instrumental in supporting the Maltz Theatre in its growth and stability, and furthering its recognition as the premier regional theatre in South Florida. Serving as volunteers and ambassadors in the community, Guild members help in advancing the mission of the theatre and its many programs. Aside from its highly rated program venue of long running seasonal plays and incredible limited engagement headliners, the theatre also provides the format for the Conservatory of Performing Arts (COPA).

The primary mission of the Guild is to raise money to provide opportunities for our youth and young adults to participate in the COPA's programs right at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. A portion of the funds raised thus far have gone into the Endowment Fund for COPA, which has and will continue to support and/or subsidize a variety of programs which are listed in our mission statement. The Guild recently reached the intial goal of a $100,000 endowment in March 2009.  Another portion of the funds raised will given to COPA as deemed necessary by the Guild's Appropriations Committee, and approved by its Board of Directors. The Guild members have one very strong belief: that every child should have access to music, dance, theatre and the visual arts. By providing these opportunities to our youth, we, in turn, are providing a more well-rounded education and stimulus for the talents that lie hidden within each of them. In a manner of speaking, we are also reliving the dreams of our past.

Some of the Guild's activities include:

• Annual and special fund-raising events
• Social gatherings, including dinner dances and special outings
• Proactive sponsorship of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre programs
• Volunteer services for special theatre performances and events
• Committee participation in a variety of functions that benefit the theatre and COPA
• Providing hospitality services to out-of-town performers and stage crews

The Guild meets six times a year to discuss, inform and plan fund-raising events, as well as all other activities they involve themselves with, as directed by its board members. Membership in the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Guild is open to all who truly enjoy live theatre at its best and who sincerely wish to help both the Maltz Theatre and COPA continue to thrive and prosper by giving of your time and talents. The Guild also is a great place to meet new folks who very well might share similar loves and interests. A Board of Directors, elected by the general membership at its annual meeting, governs, guides and directs the Guild. All Guild members participate in working committees that best reflects their various talents and interests as well as the amount of time they can comfortably devote.

Annual membership dues are $125.00 per person. In addition, members are encouraged to be season subscribers to the theatre. The membership year runs from November 1st to October 31st.
