SAMPLE MONOLOGUE

Below is an example of a one-minute monologue. Feel free to use it for your audition or come up with one on your own. Please have your monologue memorized. 

I wasn’t going to tell you this, because I knew you’d freak, and really, it’s not so bad, but – when I went back to the city to get May, I stopped by my apartment, and it was padlocked… oh, no, look, look – it was bound to happen and, it’s not so bad.  It’s not like I’m homeless – I just don’t have any place to live.  But I have plenty of places to crash… the thing is, when I went back and saw that padlock, it was like this sign or something – like this incredible omen.  It was like the city was saying to me, “Go away – you’re not wanted here.”  And I realized I didn’t want to be there, anyway!  Everywhere I go, someone’s rejecting me.  But, here – here you can just lie on the beach and look at the water and you’re not spending every second of every day just trying to survive ten more minutes – You can lie there and figure out who you really want to be.
