Maltz Jupiter Theatre Presents 2006/2007 Season and Special One Night Engagements Including An Eclectic Mix of Broadway Legends, Jazz Sensations and Encore Performances

(Jupiter, FL - July 14, 2005) The Maltz Jupiter Theatre presents another stellar season with the announcement of its 2006-2007 season with events geared for music lovers of all genres including three musical plays, dozens of concerts, new musical series and encore performances. The highlight of the season includes the all new Tony Award Winners Series featuring Broadway legends: James Naughton, Barbara Cook and Carol Channing.

The season kicks off on Sunday, October 22 with legendary jazz trumpeter Maynard Ferguson. His sold-out performance in 2005 brought down the house and this year's performance will be no different. Tickets for this jazz extravaganza are already on sale, so get your tickets soon.

Immediately following Ferguson is the return of the Batty Halloween Bash! Forced to cancel last year's presentation due to Hurricane Wilma, the Bash returns with fun activities for kids of all ages including live "Bats" to thrill all.

Encore performances include the popular return of The New Gardens Band and Indian River Pops Orchestra presenting an all new series of sensational music; the comic super group Capitol Steps returns for a New Year's Celebration; John Pizzarelli brings back more of the American Songbook with his quartet and legendary Byrd's front man Roger McGuinn returns with his familiar folk/rock sounds.

Tickets for all shows are on sale now to subscribers. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, July 21 at 10 AM. Single tickets for all plays will go on sale Friday, August 4 at 10 AM. OCTOBER

Sunday, Oct 22 - Maynard Ferguson. Part of the Michelob Jazzin' Jupiter Series in association with JAMS

This legendary jazz trumpeter and three-time Grammy award-winner is still amazing audiences around the world with his talent, virtuosity, diversity and exuberant stage presence. Ferguson and his Big Bop Nouveau Band will take the stage as always thrilling and exciting their audience. Showtime is at 8 pm. Tickets are $35.

Tuesday, October 31- Batty Halloween Bash

For ages 12 and under this is a place to bring the kids for a Halloween treat.  Come dressed in Halloween costumes for a fun filled afternoon of spooky entertainment with live "bats", food and fun!  Showtime is at 3 pm.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids.

NOVEMBER

Monday, November 6- The Four Aces

Since 1950, The Four Aces have been produced some of the most beautiful love songs ever such as "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing" and "Stranger in Paradise."  Showtime is at 8 pm. Tickets are $28.

November 28 - December 10 - Ain't Misbehavin

The quintessential Tony-Award winning musical revue, pays joyous tribute to the talents of the legendary Fats Waller.  From sassy to sultry, this electrifying celebration of song and dance features such favorites as The Joint is Jumpin', Honeysuckle Rose, and T'Ain't Nobody's Biz-ness If I Do. Showtimes are 2 pm Wed, Sat, and Sun, 7:30 pm Tuesday through Friday, and 8pm on Saturday. Single ticket prices range from $27 to $45 and go on sale August 4 at 10 am.

DECEMBER

Monday, December 11 - Winter Wonderland featuring The New Gardens Band.

Musical Director Owen Seward leads the well-known local band through some of the greatest holiday songs of all time. Showtime is at 7pm.  Tickets are $25 or $60 as part of the orchestra series.

December 19-December 30- A Christmas Story

The hit cult movie of the same name comes to the stage!   Join Ralphie in his quest for the "Holy Grail of Christmas presents" - a genuine Red Ryder 200 Shot Carbine Action Air Rifle. Along the way, experience his childhood, from coveting his father's "major award" to staring down the dreaded Scut Farkus in this funny and sweet tale of growing up in the 1940s.  Showtimes are 2 pm Wed, Sat, and Sun, 7:30 pm Tuesday through Friday, and 8 pm on Saturday. Single ticket prices range from $27 to $45 and go on sale August 4 at 10 am.

Sunday, December 31 - Capitol Steps - A New Year's Eve Celebration

The only group in America that attempts to be funnier than the Congress. This political satire comedy troupe returns to the Maltz on NEW YEARS EVE by popular demand for two shows. Showtime's are at 5 & 8 pm.  Tickets are $35 for 5 pm show, $45 for 8 pm show.

JANUARY

January 9- 21- Deathtrap

"The trap is set...for a wickedly funny who'll-do-it."  Broadway's longest-running mystery is a classic pulse-pounding thriller with devilishly wicked characters and multiple twists.  The plot thickens as a once famed playwright, now living on his laurels and his wife's money, is sent a more-than-promising manuscript from an aspiring playwright.

Showtimes are 2 pm Wed, Sat, and Sun, 7:30 pm Tuesday through Friday, and 8 pm on Saturday.  Single ticket prices range from $27 to $45 and go on sale August 4 at 10 am.

Friday, January 26 - James Naughton. Part of the Tony Award Winners Series.

Best known for his Tony-winning roles in the 1990s as a detective in "City of Angels" and the razzle-dazzle attorney in "Chicago," his laid-back style and sexy baritone vocals will dazzle you!  Showtime is 8 pm. Tickets are $45 for orchestra or $37 for mezzanine.

Sunday, January 28 - Movie, Music and Magic! Featuring the Indian River Pops Orchestra.

Musical Director Owen Seward leads the orchestra in his renditions of some of the classic movie soundtracks. Showtime is 7 pm. Tickets are $ 25 or $60 as part of the orchestra series.

FEBRUARY

Sunday, February 4 -An Evening with Mark Twain

An intimate portrait of one of America's most beloved and controversial figures and is a "must see" theatrical event starring Michael Mauldin.  Showtime is at 2 pm.  Tickets are $18.

February 13-March 4- Man of La Mancha

One of the most beloved American musicals of the 20th century, Man of La Mancha will be sure to enchant audiences of all ages.  This Broadway classic follows the romantic and noble journey of a knight's quest to right all wrongs and win the heart of a good woman as he dreams The Impossible Dream. Showtimes are 2 pm Wed, Sat, and Sun, 7:30 pm Tuesday through Friday, and 8 pm on Saturday.  Single ticket prices range from $27 to $45 and go on sale August 4 at 10 am.

Monday, February 26 - Tierney Sutton. Part of the Michelob Jazzin' Jupiter Series in association with JAMS

This jazz vocalist has six critically acclaimed CDs. In June 2005, Tierney won JazzWeek's Vocalist of the Year Award. In December 2005, I'm with the Band was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Jazz Vocal Album.  Showtime is 8 pm.  Tickets are $35.

Tuesday, March 6 and Wednesday, March 7 - Say Goodnight Gracie: The Life of George Burns

This hit Broadway play tells the poignant love story of the world's most famous radio couple George and Gracie Burns. Showtimes are Tuesday 8 pm and Wed 2 and 8pm.  Ticket prices range from $24 - $42.

Friday, March 9 and Saturday, March 10- Barbara Cook. Part of the Tony Award Winners Series

A musical theatre phenomenon. Barbara's silvery soprano, purity of tone, and warm presence have delighted audiences around the world for more than 50 years.  Showtime is 8 pm.  Tickets are $90 and $60.

Monday, March 12- John Pizzarelli Quartet.  Part of the Michelob Jazzin' Jupiter Series in association with JAMS

Back by popular demand, Pizzarelli is among the prime revivalists of the great American songbook, bringing to his work the cool jazz flavor of his brilliant guitar playing and unique vocals. Showtime is at 8 pm.  Tickets are $48 for orchestra and $38 for mezzanine.

March 20-April 7- 2 Pianos 4 Hands           

The off- Broadway hit is a "dramatic gem" that explores the universal plight of all those with an ounce of training and talent - the will and the dream to "be" a professional musician.  This "funny, clever and insightful" two actor tour de force is filled with "many musical classics ranging from ‘Chopsticks' to works by Bach and Beethoven with some Billy Joel and Jerry Lee Lewis thrown in for good measure." Showtimes are 2 pm Wed, Sat, and Sun, 7:30 pm Tuesday through Friday, and 8 pm on Saturday.  Single ticket prices range from $27 to $45 and go on sale August 4 at 10 am.

Monday, March 26- Carol Channing. Part of the Tony Award Winner Series

With two smashing successes on Broadway: as Lorelei in 1950's Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and as Dolly in 1964's Hello, Dolly!, Channing's signature song, "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend", distinctive wide-eyes, husky voice and animated persona made her musical revues and comedy acts long-running hits on the international nightclub circuit.  Showtime is 8 pm.  Tickets are $40 for orchestra or $35 for mezzanine.

Sunday, April 1 -The Art of Juggling, a Memorizing Journey starring Michael Moschen

Incorporating the rich beauty of art, science, physics and mathematics this MacArthur Fellow has, for the first time, added unique audience participation to a show of creative, fantastic and impossible feats of manipulation and illusion. Showtime is at 8 pm.  Tickets are $30.

 

Saturday, April 21- Roger McGuinn

Back by popular demand, the front man and founder of the Byrds is famous for such hits as "Turn, Turn, Turn," "Eight Miles High" and "Mr. Tambourine Man." Showtime is 8pm.  Tickets are $30 for orchestra or $25 for mezzanine.

Sunday, April 22- Give My Regards to Broadway featuring the Indian River Pops Orchestra.
