Same Time, Next Year, Smokey Joe's Cafe and The Full Monty Among Highlights of Fifth Anniversary Season

(Jupiter, FL) - February 1, 2007 -The Maltz Jupiter Theatre's Artistic Director, Andrew Kato, announced the 2007/2008 season lineup at the theatre's annual gala on Thursday, February 1 which includes: Bernard Slade's Broadway hit, Same Time, Next Year; The Boy Friend, a loving spoof of 1920s musical comedies; the longest running musical revue in the history of Broadway, Smokey Joe's Café; the "one-of-a-kind" musical The Full Monty and the Tony Award® winning Master Class.

"Due to two producing partnerships we have established with the Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach, we are able to expand our offerings to include two large-scale musicals and a hit revue.  Both The Boy Friend and Smokey Joe's Café will originate at The Maltz Jupiter Theatre before moving to the Riverside Theatre.  "Creating co-productions between the two nonprofit LORT C theatres will allow us to have expanded casts which will contribute to making our Fifth Anniversary Season an exciting one.  The 2007/2008 season is one of the largest, most ambitious seasons at the theatre," said Kato, who begins his second year as Artistic Director.  

With record attendance in the 2006/2007 season including a 5,000 member subscription base, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre will retain a similar schedule to last year. Kato says, "We have created ‘extension week' opportunities for several of our shows to address the increased demand for tickets."  Preview performances will continue at reduced rates on the first Tuesday evening, Wednesday matinee and Wednesday evening performances. Opening nights for media review will be the first Wednesday of each production and the official opening will be on the first Thursday evening. 

Subscriptions for the 2007/2008 season offer three convenient plans a five-play plan ranging from $116 to $199, a four-play plan ranging from $103 to $169. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre opened in February 2004 as a 550-seat, nonprofit community-based regional theater in the former Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre. The theater is a member of the prestigious League of Resident Theatres. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is located at 1001 E. Indiantown Road and State Road A1A in Jupiter.

The Boy Friend
A Classic Musical
December 4 - December 16

The Boy Friend is a loving spoof of 1920s musical comedies. Amidst happy flappers and perfect young ladies, romance blooms on the French Riviera as an English heiress suddenly falls for the delivery boy. This delightful comedy, including numbers such as "Won't You Charleston with Me?" and "I Could be Happy with You" sparkles and will leave you floating on air. 

Smokey Joe's Café
A Musical Revue
January 22 - February 3

Smokey Joe's Café, the longest running musical revue in the history of Broadway, celebrates the song writing duo, Leiber and Stoller and their chart-toppers: "Poison Ivy," "Love Potion # 9," "Yakety Yak," "Hound Dog," "Stand By Me" and many more!  Fusing jazz and blues with good old fashioned rock and roll, Smokey Joe's Café is filled with wall-to-wall music that will have the entire family dancing in their seats.

The Full Monty

Master Class
A Play with Music
April 1 - April 13

Master Class is a reconstruction of real-life "master classes" taught by the opera diva, Maria Callas. Callas taught at the Julliard School of Music where students endured her ridicule, criticism, and occasional praise.  This Tony Award® -wining play reflects her tales of art and love, heartbreaking abandonment and creates a deeply humanizing portrayal of one of opera's greatest icons.
