Conservatory of Performing Arts Receives a $20,000 Grant From the Citi Foundation
(Jupiter, FL) October 24, 2007 - The Conservatory of Performing Arts at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre (COPA) recently received its first programming grant since opening its doors a month ago. The grant is $20,000 from Citigroup Foundation for the theatre's youth outreach program for "Page to Stage." "Page to Stage" is a workshop offered to title one schools, libraries and community organizations. Geared to the K - 4th graders, the workshop explains in a creative, dramatic presentation on how a book becomes a play. Students participate in theatre activities and act out a familiar story. "We are grateful to our Board Member, Dee Topol and Citi-Smith Barney's West Palm Beach office manager, Bob McCabe for providing the opportunity to receive this funding, said Tricia Trimble, Director of Development for the Theatre. "This grant will enable us to reach out to the children in our community at Jupiter Elementary School and the West Jupiter Community Group." "The Theatre is firmly committed to supporting the schools and the community by providing outreach programming - if the students can not come to us to further their artistic aspirations; then we will come to them," said Andrew Kato, Artistic Director. The Conservatory of Performing Arts was founded to bring quality education in the performing arts to children, teens and adults of all abilities. Classes are currently offered to children, teens and adults in Acting, Musical Theatre, Introduction to the Performing Arts, Ballet, Jazz, Voice and Dance Technique for the acting student. They are held at the theatre after school and on Saturdays. In addition, private instruction in monologue work and audition preparation are available upon request.
