For Immediate ReleaseDrift Back in Time for A Night of Doo Wop at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre with the Shangri-Las and Sha-Boom
Jupiter, FL (March 14, 2007) – Remember the great teen hits of the 1960’s “Leader of the Pack,” “Remember (Walking in the Sand)” “Twist and Shout” and “Be My Baby?” These great hits and many more will come to life as the Doo Wop series continues at the Maltz Jupiter with the super girl group the Shangri-Las and Port St. Lucie favorites Sha-Boom on Saturday, March 22. The evening, presented in part by B&J Entertainment and sponsored by Maroone Lincoln Mercury begins with Sha-Boom, a vocal trio who sing both a capella and with musical accompaniment. They perform Doo-wop standards and hits from the 50s to the 70s and combine the heart and spirit of the street corner with a lifetime of musical knowledge to create a sound that is somehow both retrospective and new. While the group rehearses the music, the show itself is ad-libbed, which adds to the fun. "The singing is rehearsed, but in-between there are jokes and stories," says Sha-Boom. "Oldies always tell a story, about the first date, first dance, first car... there's always a story behind the song." The Doo Wop continues as one of the most broadly appealing of all the '60s girl groups takes the stage, the Shangri-Las. This vocal trio whose perfectly blended harmonies produced some of the biggest hits of the 1960’s is now comprised on Jerri Bocchino, Mary Snyder-Fox and Victoria Palagy. Bocchinio is the veteran of the group having been on tour as the Shangri-Las for twenty years. Bocchino goes on to say that the show is fun for the entire family and is so much fun to perform and to see. “We bring audience members up on the stage to help us sing and dance to the all time favorite dance tune, the “Locomotion.” Everyone will love this show and will be dancing in the isles. The three girls are backed by a full band under the direction of Dennis DiBrizzi. Don’t miss this amazing night of Doo Wop on Saturday, March 22 at 8 pm. Tickets are $45 and are available at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Box Office, online at www.jupitertheatre.org or by phone 561-575-2223 or 800-445-1666. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre opened in February 2004 as a 550-seat, nonprofit community-based regional theater in the former Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre.
