Eccentricity and Comedy

(Jupiter, FL) September 28, 2006 - The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is expanding its programming to include the all new Eccentric Theatre Series, which is...well, eccentric.  In addition, three new comedy shows will be added to the lineup.  First up on Sunday, January 14th is an evening with psychic, Jeffery Wands. Wands is an intuitive who believes that everyone has some psychic ability within them. "These hidden abilities can enrich our lives and the lives of others," says Wands.  Spend an Evening with Jeffrey Wands and embark on a journey that will release your own inner psychic.

After finding the psychic in you, hypnotist Tom DeLuca will help release your inhibitions on February 25.  DeLuca's deft approach to hypnosis as entertainment has made him America's favorite hypnotist.  His critically acclaimed Theatre of the Imagination makes him the hippest hypnotist in the country.  Deluca forgoes the gimmickry to reveal the fun and wonder of the mind.  The New York Post called DeLuca's performance "fascinating, hilarious, and even poignant".  This is just a fun show where the participants are the highlight, WITHOUT EMBARRASSING ANYONE.

Todd Robbins is the world's foremost purveyor of reality at it's most amazing -- He is the classiest act to ever grace the stage of the American Sideshow. You may have seen him on Late Night with David Letterman, Jay Leno or Conan O'Brien, but March 25th is your chance to see the complete Tom Robbins' Carnival Knowledge Show. He swallows swords, He eats glass! He'll boggle your mind!  All shows for the series are at 8 pm and are only $20.

"We added The Eccentric Theatre Series to expand our offerings to a new audience looking for something different and that will involve our audiences," said Artistic Director Andrew Kato. "Theatre exists in may forms. This series will definitely represent the more outrageous and wild side of the varied programming we do here at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre."

You'll find that fear has never been so funny on Saturday, October 28th when you are treated to the Halloween antics of Jupiter's own Gated Community: "Scary Noises".  Unlike other fright nights filled with ghosts and goblins this night of comedy features Gated Community's inimitable sketch routines, improvisation and more audience participation. In partnership with the Atlantic Arts Theatre, the Maltz will be more fun than a bag of candy. Showtime is 8 pm; tickets are $15.

In addition, the Maltz has announced the return of "Sister" in Late Nite Catechism 2 on January 27th. Even funnier than the original, "Sister" conducts her religion class into convulsions of laughter. Catholics and non-Catholics alike will be entertained and engaged as she works toward her goal of getting everyone into heaven! Showtime is 8 pm; tickets are $35.

One week later the longest running solo play in Broadway history, Defending the Caveman takes the stage on February 2. This hit one-person show, played by Chris Sullivan, comically and affectionately explores the differences between men and women, causing both sexes to roar with laughter and recognition. Written by Rob Becker over a 3-year period during which he made an informal study of anthropology, prehistory, psychology, sociology and mythology. He has performed this show for over 2,000 therapists and has sold out across the country since it opened in 1991. Showtime is 8 pm; tickets are $32.

Tickets for all shows are on sale now to subscribers. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, October 6 at 10 am. Tickets are available at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Box Office, online at http://www.jupitertheatre.org/ or by phone 561-575-2223 or 800-445-1666.
