For Immediate Release TONY AWARD WINNER JAMES NAUGHTON KICKS-OFF SERIES AT THE MALTZ JUPITER THEATRE Jupiter, FL. - (January 9, 2007) -The Maltz Jupiter Theatre invites audiences to enjoy the laid back style and sexy baritone vocals of James Naughton, part of the Tony Award Winner series on Friday, January 26. Best known for his Tony-winning roles in the 1990s as a detective in "City of Angels" and the razzle-dazzle attorney in "Chicago," the longtime Broadway headliner has also spent a fair amount of time in front of TV and movie cameras. The 56-year-old made his film debut in "The Paper Chase" in 1973. Over the years he's had recurring roles on many TV shows, including "Ryan's Hope" in the 1970s, "Who's the Boss?" in the 1980s and the short-lived "Cosby Mysteries" in the 1990s. He played Calista Flockhart's sensitive, singing father in several episodes of "Ally McBeal" in 1999 James Naughton can seduce an audience with such classics as Any Place I Hang My Hat is Home, Makin' Whoope, You are too Beautiful, and Loving You just to name a few. He'll also tackle quirky, difficult pieces, performing in several different musical styles-from jazz to country to the less definable-with works by composers such as Cole Porter, Lyle Lovett, Randy Newman and Tom Waits and many more as he showcased in his 2002 album release, It's About Time. Come see why Stephen Holden of the New York Times proclaimed that "his flexible bass-baritone voice, which matches his lean, craggy good looks, is an instrument of such extraordinary vibrancy and resonance that it automatically conveys extra-musical qualities lesser singers struggle for years to cultivate. His sound is a distillation of virile tenderness, soothing and seductive, that harks back to the prime of Bing Crosby." James Naughton will opens the Tony Award Winner Series at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre on Friday January 26 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $45 for orchestra and $37 for mezzanine and are available at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Box Office, online at http://www.jupitertheatre.org/ or by phone at 561-575-2223 or 800-445-1666.
