Leon Russell is Back By Popular Demand at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre

Jupiter, Florida (February 19, 2008) - Bringing the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's Fifth Anniversary Season to an end, Leon Russell will thrill audiences with his rock ‘n roll blues. The music legend and one of the most accomplished and versatile musicians in the history of rock ‘n roll, Leon Russell performs on April 27 at 7:30 pm.

Leon will perform his classics like "A Song For You" and also "Jumpin' Jack Flash". Guests can listen to "Same Old Song", "So Hard To Say Goodbye", "Hungry For Love" and other songs from multiple records.  Leon's latest records from his own record label, Leon Russell Records, include "Signature Songs", a collection of acoustic piano/vocal recordings of Leon Russell classics; "Guitar Blues"; "Moonlight & Love Songs", a collection of standards; "Face In The Crowd" and "Crazy Love."

In his distinguished and unique 50 year career, Leon Russell has written and/or produced some of the best records in popular music.  Leon has played on pop, rock, blues, country, bluegrass, and gospel, records. As a singer/songwriter, he has collaborated with hundreds of artists, including Willie Nelson, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Ringo Starr, John Lennon, B.B. King, Barbra Streisand, Ike & Tina Turner, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, and countless others. As a songwriter, Leon's songs have hit the charts across all genres and have been covered by a diverse range of artists.  In 2006, Leon was awarded a lifetime achievement award by the Bare Bones International Film Festival and he was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.

Leon continues to write songs, record, and thrill audiences on his non-stop tour across the U.S.  His bass player, Jack Wessel, has been in his band for 26 years. Leon's musical style is still resonating with his lifelong fans and is inspiring younger listeners who are discovering his music from either the 'Mad Dogs & Englishmen' or 'Concert For Bangladesh' DVDs.   Current members of Leon's band include: Jackie Wessel, Bassist/Backing Vocals; Chris Simmons, Guitarist/Backing Vocals;  Brian Lee, Keyboards/Backing Vocals; and Grant Whitman, Drums.

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre opened in February 2004 as a 550-seat, nonprofit community-based regional theater in the former Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre.
