Maltz Jupiter Theatre Announces Fifth Anniversary Season

Over 40 Limited Engagements To Go On Sale Friday, July 20

The Boy Friend is extended one week as single tickets go on sale Friday, August 3

(Jupiter, FL) - July 10, 2007 -The Maltz Jupiter Theatre Artistic Director Andrew Kato announced today the 2007/2008 Fifth Anniversary Limited Engagement lineup which includes an all new Doo Wop series, the rare performance of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra String Quartet and legendary performers Shelley Berman, George Winston, Paul Williams, The Platters, Melissa Manchester and the Reunion of the Legendary Lead Singers of the Temptations. The new musical Irving Berlin's I Love A Piano and Ella Fitzgerald a Tribute by Freda Payne will each run for multiple shows and popular theatre favorites will return such as Roger McGuinn, John Pizzarelli, Capitol Steps, Steve Solomon, Indian River Orchestra and the Kids Korner and Free at Three series.

"The 2007/2008 season is the most ambitious seasons we've put together here at The Maltz Jupiter Theatre.  We wanted to create a sense of excitement for our Fifth Anniversary Season by announcing exceptional talent as part of our limited engagements," said Kato.  "Our subscription renewals have hit a record high of 6,000 patrons which is a clear indicator that the community is happy with our selection of plays and musicals.  With a full selection of programming throughout the summer, we are betting that our subscription numbers grow even more, so people should make their reservations early to get the best seats."

The season kicks-off on Monday, November 19 with Robert Dubac's - The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron? Additional highlights include the Artie Shaw Orchestra, An Evening with Groucho starring Frank Ferrante and numerous favorites for the holidays. Tickets for the limited engagements vary in price and will go on sale Friday, July 20 at 10 am.

After experiencing record sales for the 2007/2008 subscriptions; the theatre has also announced the extension of The Boy Friend one week; now playing December 4 through 23. Single tickets for The Boy Friend, produced in association with the Riverside Theatre,  as well as Bernard Slade's Broadway hit, Same Time, Next Year; Smokey Joe's Café; The Full Monty and the Tony Award winning Master Class will all go on sale Friday, August 3 at 10 am. Tickets range from $28 to $55.

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre opened in February 2004 as a 550-seat, nonprofit community-based regional theater in the former Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre. The theater is a member of the prestigious League of Resident Theatres. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is located at 1001 E. Indiantown Road and State Road A1A in Jupiter.

November 6 - November 18 - Bernard Slade's Same Time, Next Year.  A fateful meeting at a California inn leads a seemingly mismatched couple into a 26-year-long affair in which they meet for only one weekend every year. Altered by the global events of the 1950s through the 1970s, the couple grows and changes as the years roll by.  Showtimes are Tuesday through Friday at 7:30 pm; Saturday at 8 pm; Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets are $28 to $48.

November 19 & November 20 - Robert Dubac's The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron? This hit one-man show pinpoints the differences between the sexes and celebrates them with ninety minutes of non-stop laughter. Hailed by critics and audiences alike, this show is a clever combination of theater and stand-up comedy that is laugh-out-loud funny, provocative and thoughtful, all at once. Showtime is 7:30 pm. All tickets are $35.

November 23 - A Rockapella Holiday. This unique pop musical group has taken the music genre of a-cappella and brought it full-force into the 21st century. A five-man powerhouse, they blend soul, rock, R&B, and jazz to create a compelling performance filled with holiday favorites. Showtime is 7:30 pm. Orchestra $35, Mezzanine $30.

December 3 - Israel Philharmonic Orchestra String Quartet. A unique musical institution, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra was originally founded as a safe haven for the great European Jewish virtuosos. One of the best symphonic orchestras in the world today, this elegant evening of classical music should not be missed. Showtime is 7:30 pm. Limited V.I.P ticket and reception $200, all other seats $50.

December 4 - December 23 - The Boy Friend. JUST EXTENDED! Produced in association with Riverside Theatre. A loving spoof of 1920s musical comedies. Amidst happy flappers and perfect young ladies, romance blooms on the French Riviera as an English heiress suddenly falls for the delivery boy. This delightful comedy, including numbers such as "Won't You Charleston with Me?" and "I Could Be Happy With You" sparkles, and will leave you floating on air.  Showtimes are Tuesday through Friday at 7:30 pm; Saturday at 8 pm; Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm. December 9 - Second City's: Dysfunctional Holiday Revue. A fast-paced, interactive comedy revue filled with style and wit, Second City's: Dysfunctional Holiday Revue is a raucous blend of sketches, songs and improvisation with a healthy dose of seasonal satire. Funny, bright and completely original, it's sure to get you into the holiday spirit. Showtime is 7:30 pm. All tickets are $35.

December 10 - Sister's Christmas Catechism, The Mystery of the Magi's Gold. Sister is comin' to town in this all-new, all ho-ho-ho holiday special. From the creator of Late Night Catechism, this comic juggernaut is a laugh out loud holiday treat for the entire family. Don't miss out on the holiday hi-jinks! Showtime is 7:30 pm. December 13 - Kit Stewart. Part of the "Free At Three" series. "Mad About The Boys" features Stewart singing hits and imparting background on some of the great male vocalists of our time such as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, Perry Como and more. Showtime is 3 pm. Admission is free.

December 16 - Steve Solomon. Part of the Comedy series. Combining comic voices, sound effects and astounding characters, this top-notch stand-up comedian brings alive a myriad of characters from all walks of life. Steve Solomon's stand-up act is a must-see for those who enjoy a talented comedic performer. Showtime is 7:30 pm. Orchestra $35, Mezzanine $30.

December 17 - Indian River Pops Orchestra presents "Winter Wonderland." Celebrate the "most wonderful time of the year" with the festive and joyful sounds of this top-notch ensemble. Showtime is 7:30 pm. All tickets are $25.

December 31 - Capitol Steps: New Year's Eve. The group that put "mock" in democracy is back with a hilarious new show to ring in the New Year. Come along for the ride as they take a humorous look at some serious issues. Showtimes are 5 pm & 8 pm. Tickets are $40 for the 5 pm show, the 8 pm show is $50 and $75 for VIP ticket with champagne toast and meet and greet.

January 4 - Paul Williams. Oscar®, Grammy® and Golden Globe winning songwriter Paul Williams is recognized as one of America's most prolific and gifted lyricists and composers. His pop classics include "We've Only Just Begun," "Rainy Days and Mondays," "An Old Fashioned Love Song" and "Evergreen" Showtime is 8 pm. All tickets are $45.

January 5 & January 6 - Ella Fitzgerald a Tribute by Freda Payne. Step back in time as Freda Payne revives the songs made famous by "The First Lady of Song." Baring a remarkable resemblance to the legendary singer, her accurate and ageless sound will transfix you. Showtimes are Saturday at 2 pm and 8 pm, Sunday at 5 pm. Tickets are $28 to $42.

January 7 - Artie Shaw Orchestra, featuring Dick Johnson. Over seventy years later, Artie Shaw's big band still remains one of the most swing' ingest outfits around. The orchestra continues with the time-tested formula that has pleased a full spectrum of audiences for over 60 years. Showtime is 7:30 pm. Orchestra $35, Mezzanine $30.

January 9 - Legends of Doo Wop with a Twist.  Presented in association with B&J Entertainment and part of the Doo Wop series. With a combined total of more than 160 years of harmony experience, this super group is comprised of doo wop legends Jimmy Gallagher of the Passions; Tommy Mara of the Crests; Steve Horn of The 5 Sharks; Frank Mancuso and Joey Dee who performed one of doo wop's biggest hits "The Peppermint Twist." Hear additional oldies such as "Stormy Weather," and "Just To Be With You." Showtime is 7:30 pm. All tickets are $45.

January 10 - Peter A. Fatovich. Part of the "Free at Three" series. Enjoy a trip down television memory lane as this Emmy® winning television director relives the past five decades of his career which includes numerous variety shows and specials including 29 nine years at NBC and most notably on the David Letterman Show. Showtime is 3 pm. Admission is free.

January 11 - Melissa Manchester. Playing to a sold out house the last time she graced the Maltz stage, this Grammy Award® winning singer/songwriter is back to delight audiences with her masterful sound and mesmerizing stage presence. Best known for her hits "You Should Hear How She Talks About You" and "Lovers After All." Showtime is 8 pm. All tickets are $45.

January 12 - A Tribute to the Rat Pack Live on Stage - Take a trip back in time to the unforgettable days of hip and cool! Relive the good times and great tunes through the stunning portrayals of the Rat Pack themselves. This production provides a great tribute to the legendary musicians and an electric evening of top-notch entertainment. Showtime is 8pm. Orchestra $40, Mezzanine $35. 

January 12 - Rapunzel. Part of the "Kids Korner" series presented by Chick-fil-A at the Gardens Mall. Rapunzel is an enticing classic complete with the long-haired beauty, Prince Charming and the evil witch.  This seriously funny tale shows how a possessive mother, a tentative prince, and a naive young girl all grow up in a surprising way. Showtime is 10 am. All tickets are $12.

January 13 - Roger McGuinn. Well respected and recognized around the world, the front man and founder of The Byrds demonstrates his mastery of musical composition while entertaining with the storytelling tradition of his folk music background. With sold out shows the past two years he's been to the Maltz, there's no doubt these tickets will go fast! Showtime is 7:30 pm. Orchestra $30, Mezzanine $25.


January 14 - The Platters. Take a trip down memory lane with the smooth sophisticated sounds that helped launch doo wop music. Singing hits such as "Only You (And You Alone)," "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," and "Great Pretender," their harmonies and arrangements will take you back in time. Showtime is 7:30 pm. Orchestra $40, Mezzanine $35.

January 17 - Maltz Jupiter Theatre Fifth Anniversary Gala. This gala dinner will honor Betty and Rodger Hess. Chaired by Roberta Golub the fifth annual celebration will be held at Admirals Cove Country Club in Jupiter. Music provided by the interactive party band, Anita. January 22 - February 10 - Smokey Joe's Café. Produced in association with Riverside Theatre. The longest running musical revue in the history of Broadway, Smokey Joe's Cafe celebrates the song writing duo, Leiber and Stoller and their chart-toppers: "Poison Ivy," "Love Potion # 9," "Yakety Yak," "Hound Dog," "Stand By Me" and many more!  Fusing jazz and blues with good old fashioned rock and roll, Smokey Joe's Café is filled with wall-to-wall music that will keep the entire family dancing in their seats. February 3 - An Evening with Groucho starring Frank Ferrante. The life of legendary comedian Groucho Marx comes to the stage in this fast paced 90-minutes of hilarity. The two-act comedy consists of the best Groucho one-liners, anecdotes and songs. A show perfect for all ages! Showtime is 7:30 pm. All tickets are $35.


February 4 - Indian River Pops Orchestra presents "A Night of Romance." Classical music fans are in for a treat this Valentine's season as the orchestra sets the mood with a romantic evening of amorous melodies. Showtime is 7:30 pm. All tickets are $25. Arrive early and enjoy a special Valentine's jewelry trunk show hosted by Provident Jewelry.

February 7 - Medical and Health Lecture. Part of the "Free at Three" series. Showtime is 3 pm. Admission is free.

February 12 - 17 - Irving Berlin's I Love A Piano. An enchanting new musical journey spanning seven decades of American history. Hear the sentimental songs that inspired a nation during two World Wars including "White Christmas," "Puttin' On The Ritz," "God Bless America" and many more. Showtimes are Tuesday through Friday at 7:30 pm; Saturday at 8 pm; Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets are $26 to $48.

February 18 - Johnny Maestro & The Brooklyn Bridge presented in association with B&J Entertainment. Part of the Doo Wop series. Take a tour through the history of the band, its members, and the incomparable Johnny Maestro as they revisit their classic hits such as "Sixteen Candles."  Showtime is 7:30 pm. February 26 - March 16 - The Full Monty. Drop everything for The Full Monty! Six buddies, whose plan to get their lives back together requires them to triumph over their fears, their nerves and even their clothes!  Based on the 1997 Oscar® nominated film, The Full Monty is a mix of razor-sharp humor and toe-tapping pizzazz.   Join us for Broadway's ten-time Tony Award® nominated, "one-of-a-kind musical." March 6 - Dr. Teena Cahill. Part of the "Free at Three" series. Come be a part of this insightful lecture "Wisdom and Beyond." Dr. Cahill, a renowned psychologist and educator will inform audiences on how to cultivate wisdom for life success. Showtime is 3 pm. Admission is free.

March 8 - The Ugly Duckling. Part of the "Kids Korner" series presented by Chick-fil-A at the Gardens Mall. For over two centuries, Hans Christian Andersen's The Ugly Duckling has been a childhood favorite all over the world.  Now Stages Productions revives the classic tale in a brand new musical which proves that deep down inside, we're all the same. Showtime is 10 am. All tickets are $12.

March 18 - Indian River Pops Orchestra presents "Sounds Of Ireland." Experience traditional Irish music that is sure to lift your heart, pick up your spirits and make your toes start tapping. Showtime is 7:30 pm. All tickets are $25.

March 20 - Shelley Berman. Part of the Comedy series. Combining his unique, vignette-styled narrative sensibility with a mannered, sophisticated stage presence, Shelley Berman introduces a new breed of comedian - raw, intense and deeply personal. Reflecting everyday hopes and fears with uncanny precision and comedic brilliance, he will have you laughing out loud. Showtime is 7:30 pm. All tickets are $35.

March 21 - George Winston Solo Piano Concert. Part of the Jazzin' Jupiter series. With a melodic folk-style piano as his signature sound for more than 30 years, this performance consists of pieces from his seasonal recordings, Vince Guaraldi's Peanuts pieces, New Orleans R&B piano, stride piano and selections from his upcoming CD, Gulf Coast Blues and Impressions. March 22 - Shangri Las presented in association with B&J Entertainment and part of the Doo Wop series. Relive the magic of one of the most broadly appealing of all the '60s girl groups whose perfectly blended harmonies produced the major hits "Leader of the Pack" and "Give Him a Great Big Kiss." Showtime is 8 pm. All tickets are $45.

March 24 - John Pizzarelli Quartet. Part of the Jazzin' Jupiter series. This brilliant musician is known for his American songbook standards. Pizzarelli's cool jazz guitar playing and unique jazz vocals continues to entertain audiences around the world. Showtime is 7:30 pm. All tickets are $45.

April 1 - April 13 - Master Class presented by Jupiter Country Club. A play with music that reconstructs the real-life "master classes" taught by the opera diva, Maria Callas. Callas taught at the Julliard School of Music where students endured her ridicule, criticism, and occasional praise.  This Tony Award® wining play reflects her tales of art and love, heartbreaking abandonment and creates a deeply humanizing portrayal of one of opera's greatest icons. Showtimes are Tuesday through Friday at 7:30 pm; Saturday at 8 pm; Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets range from $28 to $48.

April 10 - Karen Rogers. Part of the "Free At Three" series. "Prima donna and Other Wild Beasts." Former Metropolitan Opera soprano offers an insider's look at the world of opera. Showtime is 3 pm. Admission is free.

April 18 - Second Annual Silent Film Fest. A "Free At Three" series in collaboration with The Palm Beach International Film Festival. See a couple of your favorite all time silent films and engage in a thought provoking Q&A session following. Showtime is 3 pm. Admission is one nickel.

Saturday, April 26 - The Princess and the Pea. Part of the "Kids Korner" series presented by Chick-fil-A at the Gardens. One of Hans Christian Andersen's most famous tales bursts to life with vibrant color and originality. With mistaken identities, hilarious hi-jinks and star-crossed romance, Stages Productions' new musical has enough humor and toe-tapping songs to keep any princess awake! Showtime is 10 am. All tickets are $12.
