MALTZ JUPITER THEATRE ENDS SEASON ON HIGH NOTE WITH MASTER CLASS

Jupiter, FL (March 25, 2008) The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is proud to present the Tony-award® winning play, Master Class, a larger-than-life play based on the glamorous opera diva, Maria Callas. The play, written by Terrance McNally, opens on Tuesday, April 1 and runs through April 13.

Master Class is a reconstruction of real-life “master classes” taught by the opera diva, Maria Callas. Callas taught at the Julliard School of Music where students endured her ridicule, criticism, and occasional praise. In the play, Callas is dismayed and impressed by the students who parade before her, she retreats into both public recollections and private musings about the glories of her own career and life, including her younger years as an ugly duckling, the fierce hatred of her rivals, the unforgiving press that savaged her early performances, her triumphs at La Scala, and her affair with Aristotle Onassis. All of these triumphs culminate in a heartbreaking monologue about the sacrifices we must make in the name of art.

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre production is directed by Marcia Milgrom Dodge, with musical direction by Wilson Southerland which includes incidental music by Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, and Vincenzo Bellini. Gordana Rasovich stars as La Divina Maria Callas.

Master Class runs April 1st through the 13th. Showtimes are Tuesday through Friday at 7:30 pm; Saturday at 8 pm; Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets range from $28 to $48 and are available at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Box Office, online at www.jupitertheatre.org or by phone 561-575-2223 or 800-445-1666. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre opened in February 2004 as a 550-seat, nonprofit community-based regional theater in the former Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre. The theater is a member of the prestigious League of Resident Theatres. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is located at 1001 E. Indiantown Road and State Road A1A in Jupiter.
