Prestigious, World Renowned Israel Philharmonic Orchestra String Quartet To Make Rare Public Appearance at Maltz Jupiter Theatre


(Jupiter, FL)  November 15, 2007 – The prestigious Israel Philharmonic Orchestra String Quartet endowed by the Richter Family will make a rare public appearance at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre on Monday, December 3 at 7:30 pm as part of the International String Quartet Series in partnership with the Jewish Community Center of the Greater Palm Beaches. 

A unique musical institution, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra was originally founded as a safe haven for the great European Jewish virtuosos. One of the best symphonic orchestra quartets in the world today is comprised of Peter Otto, First Associate Concertmaster; Stephen Rose, Principal Second Violin; Robert Vernon, Principal Viola and Desmond Hoebig, Principal Cello. Don’t miss this amazing night of music featuring the classics Tchaikovsky Quartet No. 2 and Borodin Quartet No. 2.

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre opened in February 2004 as a 550-seat, nonprofit community-based regional theater in the former Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre. The theater is a member of the prestigious League of Resident Theatres. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is located at 1001 E. Indiantown Road and State Road A1A in Jupiter. Additional performances in the International String Quartet Series include The Cleveland Orchestra Chamber Players on Sunday, January 27 the Attacca String Quartet on Monday, March 3. 

 About the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra

The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1936 by Bronislaw Huberman and its inaugural concert, on December 26, 1936, was conducted by Arturo Toscanini. The IPO plays in subscription series, including a special annotated Youth Concert Series, special concerts, concerts as part of the "Arts for the People" project throughout Israel, and special concerts for IDF soldiers at their outposts. The IPO annually tours the world's cultural centers and its prestigious festivals. Israel's creative artists are promoted by many IPO premieres of works by Israeli composers. The IPO also contributes to the absorption of new immigrants and includes in its ranks many new immigrant musicians. The orchestra has hosted most of the world's greatest conductors and soloists, and it also does much to develop Israeli artists and young talents from Israel and abroad. In 1968 Maestro Zubin Mehta was appointed Music Advisor to the IPO and in 1977 he became its Music Director. Leonard Bernstein was named IPO Laureate Conductor in 1988, in 1992 Kurt Masur was appointed Honorary Guest Conductor and since the 2001-02 season Yoel Levi has been Principal Guest Conductor of the IPO.
