THE MALTZ JUPITER THEATRE INSTITUTE HIRES VOICE EXPERT
(Jupiter, FL.) February 15, 2006 – The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is pleased to announce that Craig Wich is joining the faculty of the Theatre Institute. Working with Education Director, Judy Gelman, Craig will design and implement a vocal study program for children, teens and adults. Private instruction will also be available. Craig is a currently a professor of voice at the prestigious Boston Conservatory of Music in Massachusetts. He is also the founding director of the Opera Laboratory Theater Company in Boston, and is nationally known for his work in integrating music, theatre and movement. He was awarded a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts to write an original American opera currently under consideration for production by several well known opera companies in New York and San Francisco. His students have performed on Broadway, in regional equity tours and with opera companies throughout the country. The Boston Globe says of Wich’s work: “Kudos should go to Craig Wich…he has been doing striking work…innovative…astonishing and brilliantly executed..” Says Gelman: “Craig has an amazing talent in working with kids. I have worked with many voice teachers in Pittsburgh and New York, but never have I seen an instructor get so much out of children and teens in such a short time. It’s like he waves a magic wand and ‘poof!’ overnight we have Broadway stars!!” Craig will teach daily in the summer conservatory program at the Maltz this June and will co- direct the musical. He will begin teaching several days a week at the Maltz in September. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre opened in February 2004 as a 550-seat, nonprofit community-based regional theater in the former Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre. The theater is a member of the prestigious League of Resident Theatres.
The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is located at 1001 E. Indiantown Road and State Road A1A in Jupiter. For more information visit www.jupitertheatre.org or call 561-575-2223 or 800-445-1666.
