The Tin Pan Alley Rag Wins Top Honors at Carbonell Awards

(Jupiter, FL) April 10, 2007  - The Maltz Jupiter Theatre received the highest honor in South Florida theatre excellence winning the coveted Carbonell Award for Best Production of a Musical for The Tin Pan Alley Rag.

The Tin Pan Alley Rag, produced by the Maltz Jupiter Theatre and local resident and Maltz Jupiter Theatre board member, Rodger Hess of Rodger Hess Productions, won two more awards for Jiri Zizka as Best Director of a Musical and Best Musical Direction for Brad Ellis.

"I am thrilled that this collaboration has been recognized so highly by the Carbonell voters," said Hess. "What an honor for the theatre, the board of directors, staff and most importantly for the cast and crew who brought The Tin Pan Alley Rag to the stage."

"This vote of confidence from the Carbonell nominators clearly shows that the theatre is here to stay. Recognition by this important group confirms that the Maltz Jupiter Theatre has taken its place as a major factor in the South Florida theatre scene," said Milton Maltz, Chairman of the Board.

The 31st Annual Carbonell Awards, named for the artist who designed the statuettes, was held on April 9 at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
